VOLUNTEER FOREST RESTORATION WORK PARTY FOR THE NORTHWEST BURNING MAN COMMUNITY

A friend of the co-op, buphalo, is offering the opportunity to participate in a volunteer forest restoration work party before the planting season is over in the Pacific Northwest. He is hosting an event specifically for the PNW Burning Man Community. Please consider joining this effort to offset the huge carbon footprint we leave in the name of The Man. It's a ton of fun in the woods of West Seattle.

Sunday, March 16, 2008, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. YOU MUST RSVP TO volunteer@naturec.org by Saturday, March 15, 2008, at 5 p.m. so that they know how many tools, gloves, snacks, etc. to bring.

Please bring a refillable water bottle with your name on it. There will be water available to refill your bottles. Upon arrival, you will be asked to sign in. Please completely fill in the requested information. This document helps to track statistics and acquire funding, and it provides insurance coverage for volunteers.

Volunteers must wear work clothes that can get dirty, long pants, and sturdy close-toed shoes. They work rain or shine, so please come prepared for the weather! During the cold and wet winter months, they strongly suggest that volunteers not wear cotton, but instead opt for fleeces, wool, and other synthetic fabrics that stay warm even when they are wet. You will participate in some or all of the following: removing blackberry and ivy, laying down cardboard and spreading mulch, and planting native species.

Snacks (granola bars) will be provided. Please bring your own food if you would like more than granola bars during the work party or if you have dietary restrictions.
