WASHINGTON: YOUR VOTE DOESN'T COUNT UNLESS YOU CAUCUS!

IF YOU LIVE IN WASHINGTON STATE, LISTEN UP and get informed:

If you planned on not going to your Caucus but rather voting in the Primary instead, think again! Washington's Democratic Presidential Primary is 100% meaningless – it's an "advisory vote." Delegates at the National Convention will be decided solely by the results of the Caucus. Your vote for the presidential candidate will only count if you go to your Caucus this Saturday, February 9th, 2008, from 1-5 p.m.

If you're not registered to vote or you recently moved, you can register right at your caucus!

Why is Washington State having Caucuses and a Primary? The Washington State Legislature was the body who voted to hold a primary. That means that the Washington State Democratic Party, which chooses how delegates are decided, had no participation in the decision to hold the Primary, which will cost $9 to $10 million. The Washington State Democratic Party decided to choose their delegates through the Caucuses, as it always has. As a result, your vote for a Democratic candidate in the State Primary will not count toward delegate selection.

Quick-n-dirty info about Washington's Caucus system.

Read our previous blog post about some cheating going on at prior Caucuses, so you can be informed.

Saturday, February 9th, is the date that Washington State voters select the delegates who will represent "we, the people" in choosing the Party's presidential nominee. If you would like to take part in the election of your favorite candidate, you MUST attend this election event.

If you are a Washington Democrat, this is a great site to have in your bookmarks for more information. You can also find out more information about Caucus locations at both of the major parties' Washington websites: Republican or Democrat.
