Boston Comics Roundtable releases its second anthology

BOSTON, MA (OCTOBER 6, 2008) – The Boston Comics Roundtable has returned with their second anthology, featuring a wide variety of comics from Boston-based creators. From would-be supermen to foibles in space to real-life stories from the streets of Iraq, Inbound #2 is the best of Boston. This 64-page book retails for $7.95.

The Boston Comics Roundtable was created in 2006 to unite Boston-based comics creators in the spirit of camaraderie and professional development. Their ever-growing membership roll - now over fifty people – and the publication of Inbound #2 reaffirms that Boston is the hot new town for comics!

The Boston Comics Roundtable is an independent organization of comics creators in the Greater Boston area. The group meets weekly for workshopping, teaching, and social gathering. Poetry as history is Galing’s specialty. Plus he tells a damn good story.
Ed’s an inspiration to me. He’s 90 years old, lost his wife a year ago, and still keeps writing. Writing well. Even writing cheerful 2 and 3-page letters on an old electric typewriter to any small press poet who drops him a line.
I hope to do as well someday.
Galing’s known for story poems about Depression-era New York, back when teenagers would sneak into burlesque shows. Days when the refrigerator held a giant block of ice. Priceless, entertaining, vivid snapshots of a world long gone.
Confessions of a White Hat recounts Ed’s 17 years in the Naval Reserve, which he joined after his Army discharge at the end of WWII. A few photos interspersed make this a slice of history up close and personal. The poems are on a par with Thomas Michael McDade’s own fine Navy tales.
Highly recommended!

That is so awesome that Barack is embracing, recognizing, appreciating, and supporting the arts, the "little people," their ideas, the internet, telecommunication... everything. He sees it around him, he is intune with it, and he embraces it: YouTube, Myspace, Facebook, Flickr, Digg, Twitter... and, most importantly to me, artists. Hillary, are you listening? Probably not. But Barack is.

THE GUT PUBLISHES FOUR PIECES BY LEAH ANGSTMAN

One of our editors at Propaganda Press, leah angstman, just had four pages published in issue number eight of The GUT, a cool assembling zine where the artists/authors create the pages themselves, and the editors print them as-is. Shown here are the four pages, as well as the cover of the issue, shown directly to the left.

In The GUT's own words, the zine is "home to an ongoing series of interviews with anti-societal icons[;] and independent writers, artists, musicians, and publishers. [The zine] invites submissions of writing and art from guerrilla creatives worldwide. Who cares what genre it is? [They] accept random thoughts, scrap thoughts, finished thoughts."

Feel free to send them a page or two; if they like it, they will use it. Half page size. Large submissions by invite only.
